Capability — Phone payments

A toll-free number that takes payments on its own.

Automated phone payments let consumers check a balance and pay without waiting for your office to open, with a clean handoff to a live agent whenever they need one.

A capability, not a product

Phone payments are one of four capabilities built into the EveryBill platform, available under Core, Silo, or Sovereign. The deployment you choose changes who holds the AWS account and the encryption keys — not whether you get this.

You do not choose a different tier to get phone payments; it is part of the platform in every deployment. See how Core, Silo, and Sovereign compare to decide which deployment fits your firm.

What the line does

An automated system handles the routine calls; a person is always reachable for the rest.

    Available 24/7

The toll-free line answers automated calls outside your office hours as well as during them.

    Automated balance lookup and payment

Callers can hear their balance and pay it using the automated system, without waiting for a person to answer.

    Handoff to a live agent

When a caller needs a person — a dispute, a question, a complicated case — the call can be handed off to your staff.

    One set of reporting

Payments made by phone land in the same reporting as payments made through the portal or a self-pay site, so your staff is not reconciling two systems.

Why firms keep the phone line

Not every consumer wants to pay online, and not every call needs a person.

Some consumers will always prefer to call rather than use a website, particularly for a first payment or an unfamiliar balance. An automated line gives them a way to pay on their own at any hour, while keeping a live agent available for the calls that genuinely need judgment. Because phone payments post to the same reporting as the rest of the platform, your staff sees one picture of what has been paid, regardless of how it came in.

What customers say

“Not only do we use EveryBill for our web-based payment portal, but we have shifted our check by phone process to this system as well.”
